About Jake Anderson

Background

With an undergraduate degree in Geology from Calvin College, you wouldn’t be surprised to learn one of my favorite programming languages is Ruby. Aside from getting my degree, I’m also a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) semester graduate, where I spent 92 days climbing, backpacking, white-water kayaking, and canyoneering in some of the most remote places in the United State. I continue to tell people it was well worth the limited outside communication and access to technology I had, which also happens to be the amount of times I was able to shower… three.

My web journey started as a designer, where I remained for a number of years. Then in 2015, the WordPress sites I was designing and building weren’t cutting it and I yearned for more. I then devoted every waking moment to building scalable, web applications using a variety of technologies, including JavaScript and–of course–Ruby. You can currently find me at LLT Group in Naperville, IL, where I hold the title of Lead Software Engineer.

When I’m not grinding away on my computer, I’m at the dog park, local coffee shop, doing some aerial yoga, or climbing at one my favorite places on earth—Yosemite Valley, CA. I’ve also been devoting my time mentoring others getting into web development and learning new languages (currently eyeing Go and Elixir). So if you’re looking to build something amazing, or want to learn how, I’m your guy.
